What do we need in January?
A striker and a right back is obvious but what else?

Re: What do we need in January?
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the Gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?

Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn
And I dream of what I need

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
'Til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
'Til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
(Larger than life)

Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasy
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me

Racing on the thunder
And rising with the heat
It's gonna take a Superman
To sweep me off my feet

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
'Til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
'Til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
Til the end of the night

Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear that there's someone somewhere watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood

(3x)

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
'Til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong
And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
'Til the morning light
He's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

(1x)

I need a hero, I'm holding out for a hero
'Til the end of the night

Re: What do we need in January?
Just read that we may try and sign Joe Hart on the cheap if we stay up. I wonder how that will end.

Should have signed him in the summer.

Our owners are fucking idiots and never learn.
They need to back up all the big talk with actual quality signings which requires spending money.

We need a goalkeeper, a RB, centre forward and probably abother midfielder.
This should have been sorted in the summer.
Whatever the cost G&S need to pay it, sick of the excuses and penny pinching, if they are not prepared to do it then the only words I want to hear coming out of their dumb mouths is that they are looking for a buyer who can take the club forward.

Especially Begovic, Zabaleta, Delph as CM and Batshui up front. This lot would transform us to a decent team that would survive. Will cost a lot so will not happen.

Get Batshuayi in on loan.

Can we loan 2 players from the same club? If so get Begovic in goal.

Re: What do we need in January?
I'd say we need a transfer strategy as opposed to a scattergun approach.
I think the best strategy is to
1) get rid of the foreign legion we signed in the summer who haven't played or got up to speed with the English game.
2) try to take the best players available who aren't getting playing time at their current clubs, either on loan or by paying a fee. There are many players who would improve us, who have premiership experience who are frozen out by their managers.
One of Zabaleta, Sagna or Ivanovic would help us at right back. All of their contracts are up at the end of the season and none of them have played more than half their teams matches.
Smalling has been in and out of Jose's doghouse and now Mourinho wants to sign Lindelof to partner Bailly, making Smalling expendable. He wants to move back to London and u can't see Man Ure selling him to Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea.
In central midfield Delph won't get back into the City squad even though he is fit again, and Fabregas and Schneiderlin are frozen outburst their new managers. Memphis Depay is completely out of Jose's plans, Batshuayi has barely played, same with Sturridge, Chelsea are freezing out Solanke and Loftus Cheek and Begovic can't get a game. Neither can Worm. Every single one of those players has experience in the premier league and are available and would massively improve us.

My picks would be Begovic (loan), Smalling (20m), Schneiderlin, (12m), Delph (10m), Depay(loan with option to buy) or Batshuayi (loan). If we sign oxford to a new contract in 10 days when he turns 18 and terminate Burke's loan to Wigan we would be much more solid. We'd then be able to sell Ogbonna (12m) Adrian (4m) and Sakho (16m), and terminate the loans of Calleri, Tore, and Zaza and loan out Nordveit and Feghouli. That is a net spend of 10m, we would still need a rightback, but one of the 3 above or Iorfa would be reasonably affordable and another striker but the spine of our squad would be far stronger as would the character

Re: What do we need in January?
I do think it will be a case of who will want come to us in our current situation. Loan signings are slightly better as they can go beack if things dont work out but then again they wont feel any responsibility to the club. Then you have to look at top Championship players but will the clubs want to sell? We have a good crop of youth players at the moment and it may be that we use them. Can they be any worse? Whatever happens, I am sure we will sort it out. We have a lot of football to play before the end of the season and most of the "top teams" are out of the way now. Lets get behind the team and I am sure we will stay up.

I think we need a small miracle based on what we've seen to date

BUT football is a funny ole game and back to back wins v Burnley and Hull would make things look a whole lot different

Re: What do we need in January?
Morgan Schniederlin (Man Utd) - As if he would come
Charlie Taylor ( Leeds)
Doinic Iorfa ( Wolves)
Isaac Hayden (Newcastle)
Scott Hogan (Brentford)
Lewis Dunk (Brighton)

We may as well plan for the Championship now as thats where we will be playing next season. At least most of that lot may not give up when they are losing at home and lets be honest having seen this statement about Mark Noble from Saturday Schniederlin would be a vast improvement. (Not that I think he would come here)

Mark Noble failed to make a single tackle, interception or clearance, while he did not register a single shot, key pass or dribble. His 72nd-minute removal was one of mercy.

Offer £10m to palace for Tomkins and throw ogbonna in for muffin.
Give hull £10m for snodgrass and throw in (or under a bus tore n feghouli) and offer to pay their wages
Get Alex song back and send nordveidt to the fjords
Buy a right back, what one you say, anyone is my answer, doncaster's reserve rb, anyone, anyone at all than this shambles.
Obviously we don't want anyone who is fit ( well done the medical staff btw)

As it stands, there isn't a single player who isn't replaceable and who can justify their place with the exception of Obiang, who at least looks up for it every game.

An overhaul only works if the right people are bought in and not just a bucket load of bodies again.
